As owners of Explorer House we welcome guests to our bed and breakfast lodging option in Niagara-on-the-Lake. To assure an enjoyable and comfortable stay for all, we ask that you review our policies.

A credit card is required to guarantee your reservation.

All suites sleep a maximum of two (2) guests. We do not accept guests under the age of 16.

Smoking is NOT permitted anywhere on the property.

As a small business with just three guest suites to offer, it is imperative that we both protect our business and make sure that we can offer our services to our guests.

NEW CANCELLATION POLICY, in effect for any direct bookings made as of July 20, 2022 or later, for any stays starting November 1, 2022 or later:

The credit card used to hold the reservation will be charged the full amount of the reservation 14 days prior to scheduled arrival. This is non refundable and non transferable to another date and no credit will be issued. This is applicable to no-shows as well.

OLD CANCELLATION POLICY, in effect for any direct bookings for stays starting prior to November 1, 2022:

Cancellations 15 days or more prior to scheduled arrival result in no cancellation charges. Cancellations 14 to 8 days prior to scheduled arrival will result in a $50 cancellation fee.

If the cancellation is seven (7) days or less from your arrival date, chances are slim that we will be able to re-book the room. The full amount of the reservation will be charged for these short-term notices. This is non refundable and non transferable to another date and no credit will be issued. This is applicable to no-shows as well.

Please be aware of the above policies when booking your stay, and note these policies applies to direct bookings only.

For reservations made via an on-line booking agency (Booking.com, Expedia, etc.) the credit card used to hold the reservation will be charged the full amount of the reservation at the time of booking. Cancellations 31 days or more prior to scheduled arrival result in no cancellation charges. Cancellations 30 days or less prior to scheduled arrival are non-refundable and non-transferable to another date and no credit will be issued. This is applicable to no-shows as well.

We strongly encourage our guests to have travel insurance as all cancellation policies will be adhered to no matter the reason for cancellation.

Check-in is between 3-6 pm. If you are delayed, please call to confirm time of arrival.

Check-out is 10:30 am.

  • Rates are in Canadian dollars and are subject to the 13% HST (Harmonized Sales Tax). 
  • VISA, MasterCard, or Cash accepted
  • All reservations carry a cleaning fee of $25 per room per stay.

During high season and weekends in low season a two-night stay minimum is required. We open up dates to single night stays when we have stranded nights.

Pets: [Read Details…]

Pets are not permitted in our guests’ rooms or in any guest area. If you are traveling with your pet, our resident cats Drake & Darwin and Cleopatra (who you won’t see in any of the guest areas) are happy to recommend a local pet-only bed and breakfast for your furry friend(s).
